OFFSETTING FOULS DURING
TRYS (8-3-3-a and 8-3-4-c) EXTRA PERIODS (3-1-3-g-3)

The rationale for the 2008 rule changes for trys and in extra periods is that the new wording parallels Rule 10-1-4. If there are fouls by each team and Team B fouls prior to a change of team possession, then Team B is considered not to to have "clean hands" and the down is replayed. But if there is a circumstance during the game where Team B would have an option to replay or not (e.g. new 8-3-4-c), then the down will not be replayed. [Source: RR if you agree]
