2. RULING: B 1/10 B2. B44 does not intercept the forward pass while airborne. The catch is completed (and intercepted) when B44 returns to the ground inbounds with the ball in his possession. B44 is given forward progress which, in this play, is to his disadvantage. It would also be B's ball on B's 2 if B44 controlled the ball on B's 2 while airborne and was driven backward into B's end zone where he returned to the ground with the ball in his possession.
3. RULING: A retry B1. The result of the play is a touchback. No player shall bat a loose ball (other than a pass in flight) forward in the field of play or in any direction if the ball is in the end zone. A backward pass in flight shall not be batted forward by the passing team in an attempt to gain yardage. The foul occurs during a running play. The basic enforcement spot is the end of the run, B's 2.
4. RULING: A 1/10 A19. The clock starts on the snap. The result of the play is a safety. The below the waist block by B36 against an eligible receiver beyond the neutral zone is a foul. A legal forward pass was still possible when the foul occurred. The basic enforcement spot is the previous spot since the run ended behind the neutral zone. The penalty is 15 yards and a first down.
5. RULING: Safety. Two points awarded to Team A. Game over. The final score is A30-B28. The ball became dead when it touched the ground in B's end zone since the status of the ball is still a kick and no player of Team B touched the ball after the kick crossed the neutral zone. The impetus for the ball being in B's end zone is the illegal kicking by B96. Team A will decline the penalty for the illegal kicking foul by B96. The result would be the same if B96 batted the ball backward although it would not be a foul.
6. RULING: Touchdown. A try B3. The rules do not specify when the Team B player must touch the pass in order for A88 to regain eligibility. The touching of the ball by B38 need not occur after A88 went out of bounds.
7. RULING: B 1/10 B9. The play appears to be reviewable. Team A is not in possession when the down ends. Thus, postscrimmage kick enforcement applies. The 10-yard penalty is enforced half the distance from the end of the kick, B's 18. B44's fumble went forward and out of bounds, even though the ball did not cross the sideline, and is returned to the spot of the fumble, A's 48. Declination of the penalty results in B 1/10 A48.
