2007 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #10

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down and distance, yardline and status of clock if relevant (example: A 1/10 A40, clock on snap). Include other relevant information such as extension of period.

1. PLAY: Fourth and 22 on A's 15. The snap is over punter A4's outstretched arms. A4 is chasing the ball under pressure from pursuing Team B players. At A's 6, A4 recovers the bouncing ball and slings an underhanded pass through A's end zone.

2. PLAY: Try on B's 3. The score is A20-B21. Time expired in the 4th quarter during A39's touchdown run. QB A17 completes a forward pass to A88 in B's end zone. The pass was thrown from B's 2.

3. PLAY: Free kick on A's 30. A7's free kick bounces on B's 2 and breaks the plane of B's goal line. A87 recovers the ball in B's end zone before the ball touches the ground in B's end zone.

4. PLAY: Second and 7 on A's 33. Wide deployed player A27 is legally lined up as a backfield player. Prior to the snap, he takes a step forward and is in motion along his scrimmage line, back toward the tight end when the ball is snapped. He turns and goes downfield after the snap and Team A's legal forward pass is incomplete beyond the neutral zone.

5. PLAY: Third and 10 on A's 30. Team A linemen have their hands on their thighs. As they are moving down into their normal three point stance, the snapper snaps the ball. B44 intercepts A17's legal forward pass and advances across Team A's goal line.

6. PLAY: Free kick on A's 30. The score is A28-B28 with one second remaining in the fourth quarter. A4's free kick is at rest in the field of play (official is emphatic) one yard from the goal line pylon when B86 dives on the ball (legal touching). The ball hits the goal line pylon before B86 gains control of the ball. Time expires during the down.

7. PLAY: Try on B's 3. A22 is a numbering exception and is lined up just inside end A82. Team A has eight players on the line of scrimmage. As holder A3 is calling cadence, A82 steps into the backfield to block and is stationary at the snap. The try is successful.
