2007 FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

QUIZ: WEEK #12

RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down and distance, yardline and status of clock if relevant (example: A 1/10 A40, clock on snap). Include other relevant information such as extension of period.

1. PLAY: Fourth and 12 on B's 29. Team A is lined up to attempt a field goal. The snap bounces to holder A3 who has to rise up to grab the ball and immediately returns to a kneeling position. A3, from his kneeling position, tosses a shovel pass to A84 at B's 32. A84 is downed on B's 16. The kicker was still in position to kick the ball when A3 was rising, kneeling and passing. [CCA01-119]

2. PLAY: First and 10 on A's 35. Team A starts a new series. Team A rushes quickly to the line of scrimmage. Team B makes no substitutions. Just after the Umpire backs off the ball and just prior to the Referee giving the ready for play signal, the snapper snaps the ball.

3. PLAY: Fourth and 4 on A's 36. After B88 gives a valid signal for a fair catch, the ball hits him on the shoulder pad on A's 24 and bounces up and forward. B88 moves forward and recovers the ball on B's 29. No other player touched the ball between the muff by B88 and the recovery by B88.

4. PLAY: Free kick on A's 30. While the untouched free kick is rolling on A's 38, A88 blocks B62 above the waist on A's 42. At about the same time and while the ball is on A's 38, B96 blocks kicker A4 above the waist on A's 37. A86 recovers the untouched kick on A's 42.

5. PLAY: Fourth and 5 on B's 16. A4's field goal attempt is blocked by B96. The ball touches B56 on B's 5 and rolls into B's end zone. B48 recovers the ball, fumbles while still in B's end zone, and the ball rolls out of bounds on B's 2.

6. PLAY: Fourth and goal on B's 4. A4's field goal attempt is blocked, lands on B's 2 and rebounds behind the neutral zone. B93 bats the ball backward from B's 6. A85 recovers the ball in B's end zone prior to the kick touching the ground in B's end zone.

7. PLAY: Fourth and 10 on A's 20. A8's punt is high and short. B84 is in position to catch the ball on A's 45 when A88 grabs him by the face mask and swings him around. The ball comes down and hits B84 in the back and rebounds toward A's end zone. A68 recovers the ball on A's 37.
