2. RULING: B 1/10 B10. Team B will elect the touchback since the batting occurred in B's end zone. The 10-yard penalty for B56's holding foul (Team B is on defense when the foul occurs) is enforced from the postscrimmage kick spot, B's 20. Team B would not have the option to take the ball at the spot of illegal touching if A82 batted the ball backward while the ball was in the field of play. If Team B did not elect the touchback, the end of the kick would be B's 4. The 10-yard penalty would be enforced half the distance from B's 4.
3. RULING: A 2/11 A5. The defense may legally bat a backward pass in flight. A backward pass in flight may not be batted forward by the passing team in an attempt to gain yardage. A32 batted the ball forward to prevent B88 from catching the ball. It may serve a useful purpose to make any backward pass in flight batted forward by the passing team to be a foul. Although this is not a common occurrence, it would remove judgment from the call as to the reason for batting the ball forward. The only reason for the judgment in this play that the ball was batted forward to prevent a Team A player from catching the ball is that the play so states.
4. RULING: Safety. The final score is A29-B28. The impetus is the illegal kicking of the grounded backward pass by B14. Team A is awarded one point for the safety on the try. The game ends. If the ball went out of bounds between the goal lines, the 15-yard penalty would be enforced half the distance from the previous spot and the try replayed.
5. RULING: A 3/32 A48. The 15-yard penalty for A83's illegal block below the waist foul is enforced from the spot of the foul, B's 22. The restriction for blocking back below the waist toward the ball extends 10 yards beyond the neutral zone. The 15-yard penalty for Team A's dead ball unsportsmanlike foul is enforced from the succeeding spot, B's 37. (NOTE: The last known interpretation is that if more than one participant of the same team is involved in a common unsportsmanlike act, it is only a single 15 yard penalty, but that all participants are recorded as having committed an unsportsmanlike foul and a second unsportsmanlike foul will result in disqualification.)
6. RULING: B 1/10 B9. DQ B46. Postscrimmage kick enforcement applies. The 15-yard penalty is enforced half the distance from the spot of the foul, B's 18. If the kick was successful in this play, Team A could take the points off the board and accept the 15-yard penalty from the previous spot with a first down. Team A always has the option to cancel the score and have the penalty enforced from the previous spot even if the penalty would otherwise carry postscrimmage kick enforcement (A.R. 10-2-2-XXIV). Under no circumstances is the penalty enforced on the succeeding kickoff.
7. RULING: A f/k A30. Try ends. The score by B55 is cancelled. The try is not replayed since Team B did not foul prior to a change of team possession. The penalty for the flagrant personal foul is not enforced since it is part of offsetting fouls. The flagrant personal foul penalty would be enforced if it was the only foul during the down. The try is replayed when each team fouls prior to a change of team possession even if these fouls are followed by a live ball foul by either team after a change of team possession.
