2007 NCAA FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

PRESEASON QUIZ #6: August 1, 2007


RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down and distance, yardline and status of clock if relevant (example: A 1/10 A40, clock on snap). Include other relevant information such as extension of period.

1. PLAY: Fourth and goal on B's 6. A9's field goal attempt is blocked, lands on B's 4 and takes a reverse bounce. B66 bats the ball backward on B's 7 and A56 picks up the ball in Team B's end zone.

2. PLAY: Fourth and 10 on A's 25. B82 gives a valid fair catch signal. B82 muffs the ball on B's 42, is contacted by A87 on B's 43 and then catches the ball on B's 44.

3. PLAY: Fourth and 12 on A's 8. A4 muffs the snap and, while the ball is rolling in A's end zone, kicks the ball out of bounds on A's 18. Team B wants the ball.

4. PLAY: Third and 8 on A's 32. Team A has the wind in the first quarter. QB A14 is chased backward by B96 and grounds the ball on A's 18 to save loss of yardage. Time expires in the first quarter during the down. Extend period?

5. PLAY: Try on B's 8. A five-yard penalty was enforced for a Team A false start. The score is A25-B27 with ten seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. A16's legal forward pass is incomplete. B94 commits a roughing the passer foul. Team A requests the retry from the left hash mark.

6. PLAY: Fourth and 8 on A's 32. A5's punt is blocked on A's 20 and lands on A's 36 where B56 accidentally kicks the ball in attempting to pick it up. A72 recovers on A's 25 and ambles down the field for a touchdown. Clock? Reviewable?

7. PLAY: Free kick on A's 30. The ball is rolling on A's 43 when B96 muffs the ball with his foot touching the sideline on A's 42. A64 recovers the ball on A's 44 and falls forward to A's 45 where he is declared down. The officials give the ball to Team A on A's 45. Reviewable?
