2008 NCAA FOOTBALL RULES & INTERPRETATIONS

PRESEASON QUIZ #12: August 13, 2008


RULING FORMAT: Team (A or B) in possession, down and distance, yardline and status of clock if relevant (example: A 1/10 A40, clock on snap). Include other relevant information such as extension of period and whether a 40 or 25 second play clock will be employed.

1. PLAY: Extra period. First series. Team A scores a touchdown. Team A's field goal attempt on the try is successful. B96 roughs the kicker. Team A accepts the point.


2. PLAY: Extra period. First series. Fourth and 13 on B's 18. A6's field goal attempt is good. B56 commits a flagrant personal foul on B's 13 during the down. Team A takes the points.


3. PLAY: Second and 4 from B's 44. A18 pitches backward to A33 and leads the play on a sweep. On B's 42, A18 blocks B75 below the waist toward the position of the ball at the snap. B96 pulls A76 out of the way in an attempt to get to the runner. A33 advances to B's 12 where he is downed.


4. PLAY: Third and 10 on A's 40. A84 goes out of bounds voluntarily and returns inbounds. Then, B44 blocks A84 below the waist on B's 48 prior to A16's legal forward pass. The pass is incomplete after being touched by A84 on B's 44.


5. PLAY: Fourth and 15 on A's 25. A8's punt is illegally touched by A87 on B's 39, muffed by B56 on B's 37 and then recovered by A88 on B's 36. B76 blocks A84 in the back on B's 33 before the kick ends.


6. PLAY: Fourth and 15 on A's 25. A8 punts. B82 pushes A85 in the back on B's 42. A85 falls to the ground and the ball bounces off of his back on B's 39. The ball is then muffed by B56 on B's 37 and then recovered by A88 on B's 36.


7. PLAY: Fourth and 18 on A's 32. Punter A8 muffs the high snap. B86 pushes A8 in the back on A's 12 as A8 is reaching down to recover the ball. B86 picks up the ball and advances to A's 6 where he is downed.
